2020 Bear Paw Outdoor Registration

Come to our 30th Anniversary BearPaw

Three-day Winter Camping Experience

The outdoor camping experience allows participants to put into practice what they learned during troop meetings, which is camping in the snow or a very cold environment within a very safe environment accompanied by a couple hundred fellow Scouters.  This may be the best high adventure they may ever participate in as a youth; even adults have fun.  The event has a focus on fun in the cold/snow, along with camping challenges that are easily overcome with experience and mentoring.

WHEN: FEBRUARY 21-23, 2020

WHERE: Camp Hi-Sierra – 29211 Hwy 108 Long Barn, CA 95335

COST:$25.00 per participant before and on 2/7/20. $30 after 2/7/20.

Price includes campground fees, unit ribbon and patch with rocker for each participant.

No fee for parking this year. Parking passes will be handed out to unit leaders or drivers upon check-in with the Event Director, who will be at the ranger station/entrance on Friday.  These passes must be displayed in the windshield at all times. 4 wheel drive and carpooling recommended.

  • Saturday activities are up to the individual units however, games will be available for fun on Saturday morning on the athletic field such as volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, soccer on fresh packed snow, or any other event the youth wish to organize. Each Troop may want to develop a program for their unit that includes rank advancement requirements.  There is a Saturday night campfire program with a program put on by “every” unit (song, skit, reading, etc.), including a flag retirement.

BearPaw can be considered a car camping event.  Units may leave the campground during the day on Saturday and drive up to Lake Pinecrest, go skiing, or participate in any other activity desired.  BearPaw focuses on camping in cold weather with or without snow which includes cooking, sleeping and keeping warm.  Units are not required to be at camp during the day.
