Scouts will begin the requirements for the Railroading Merit Badge while at the event. They will receive hands on experience with locomotives, tracks, tools, and a talk from an engineer. The experience will culminate with a train ride through the redwoods.
Following the day, there will be some additional work required to complete the badge (for example, requirement 8 of the badge focuses on two options of follow up projects). When they have completed this additional work, there will be merit badge counselors available to sign off completion of the merit badge and this information will be given at the event.
