Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

歡迎參加由美華童軍協會(Chinese American Scouting Association)和(幼)童軍453團(Troop 453, Pack 453, and Fox Patrol)共同舉辦的中文BALOO戶外活動訓練課程。此課程歡迎幼童軍團的所有家長們參加,如有任何疑問,請聯絡Jin Zhao (jzhao2001us@yahoo.com).

BALOO is a 2 day training course that teaches leaders skills needed to carry out a Pack successful family/Den campout. BALOO training is required for at least one adult leader of a Pack to do overnight camping as a part of the Pack’s activities.

At least one adult who has completed this course must be in attendance at any Pack or Den overnight activity. This course has two parts. The first is available online and the second part is the outdoor experience (this class).

貝魯(BALOO)是幼童軍戶外活動的基礎訓練課程,課程內容包括各種戶外活動設備的介紹,活動的計畫安排,野外安全防護,及野外烹飪等。美國童軍總會(BSA)規定所有幼童軍進行外宿或露營時,至少要有一位已經參加過貝魯(BALOO)訓練的大人帶隊方可成行。

The online component must be completed before attending the outdoor part of Baloo training.

The online portion is available through the BSA Learn Center (my.scouting.org). Log onto my.scouting.org and select the BSA Learn Center image on the right side of the home page. On the training page the Baloo training can be found under the “Expanded Learning” heading. Then select “Baloo” to start the online training (35 minutes).

Alternatively, on my.scouting.org select the BSA logo on the left top of the home page and select “My Dashboard”. Then select “Training Center” at the upper middle of page. Select “Expanded Learning” at the bottom of the list to get to the Baloo training.

There will be on line orientation by the end of June and by the middle of July to help students to take the on-line course. A link will sent after your register.

貝魯(BALOO)訓練課程的時間與地點:

Saturday August 6th and Sunday August 7th 2022 at Camp Chesebrough. Registration is at 7:30 AM on Saturday. Instruction will finish by 11:00 AM on Sunday.

This training includes an overnight camping experience. Come prepared to camp and to be outside. (Cold weather and rain are common this time of year.) The training will include instruction on camp setup, cooking, sanitation, camping equipment selection, knife safety, fire safety, and using wood tools safely.

訓練課程包含一個晚上的戶外露營經驗。這個季節有可能會下雨,請準備禦寒衣物。課程內容包含露營、烹飪、衛生安全、露營裝備選擇、用刀、用火及鋸樹工具的使用安全等。

The food for the students to cook on Saturday (lunch) and the means to cook it will be provided. Dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will also be provided.

星期六的午餐由學員自己烹調,我們會提供食材跟烹飪工具。本課程也會提供星期六晚餐跟星期日早餐。

COVID Considerations:

We are designing this course to be as safe as possible and we all have a duty to do our part to keep each other safe.

-We will use social distancing and masking in accordance to state and county guidance. Please bring a supply of clean face masks with you to camp.

-While we will try to have participants distanced as much as possible, there will be group work and hands on instruction.

-Handwashing stations will be available to you at all times, please use them frequently.

-We encourage all participants to get a COVID-19 vaccine, especially those at high risk. For those that cannot receive a vaccine we encourage taking a test before attending.

-We will screen you for symptoms when you arrive and you will be asked to leave if you are symptomatic. We ask that anyone feeling sick does not attend the training.
