The Early Entrance Program is a pathway to university admission through the Cal State LA Honors College. The Honors College prepares exceptional students to create a brighter future by becoming experts in their discipline of choice and develop into well-rounded leaders dedicated to making a difference in their communities and the world. In a Word document, please construct a personal reflection including personal examples to support your answers. There is a 500 word limit for each question.

Please include all school transcripts, report cards, and/or progress reports from the last academic year and for the current term.

The Early Entrance Program recommends achievement of a weighted 3.8 for schools reporting progress through letter grades. For schools that use alternative scoring or rubrics, recommended scores include language such as “standards exceeded” or “excellent.” Transcripts must reflect all schools attended within the last academic year (2021-2022) and any grades earned in the current academic year (2022-2023). Should transcripts be unavailable, scanned official report cards may be used as a substitution. Please include any transcripts reflecting Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses with exam score reports, International Baccalaureate schools, community college level or any higher education institution. Home school applicants should provide documentation of approved relationship/affiliation with a licensed program/school in addition to their academic records (please contact staff for further details). We encourage each applicant to highlight the completion of any challenging courses, including Honors, AP courses with exams, IB programs, and coursework from a community college higher education institution. Students will be able to complement academic performance by listing those passions outside the classroom within the application and through their personal statement. Grading scales are considered, however, they are only one piece of the application review. *

Digital Portfolio Item (Optional)
Students may submit a digital artifact that is representative of a student's major interests and/or showcases a unique skill or talent. Examples include but are not limited to: a piece of creative writing, art, photography, a video or movie the student created, a short video of a musical or theatrical performance, a scientific poster or presentation, a musical composition, documentation of a technical invention or app, a YouTube page, evidence of participation in a civic organization.

A typed explanation of the item and its significance to the student should accompany the artifact. 🛈

Letter Of Recommendation Guidelines

Upon receipt of the student application, a template for the letters of recommendation will be sent directly from EEP staff to the recommender and all documents will be returned directly to EEP Staff. The recommender should be able to attest to the applicant’s behavior and maturity level as well as their anticipated ability to successfully perform college coursework and independently thrive in a college environment.

Please note: At least (2) recommendation letters must come from the student's current or previous academic year teachers. Recommendation forms from friends or family members will not be accepted, regardless of the professional background of the individual. The provided form template must be used – we will not accept other formats for letters of recommendation.

Important: All letters of recommendation must be received by March 1, 2023. It is the student's responsibility to inform their recommenders that a recommendation request will be sent by EEP Staff. Incomplete letters of recommendation will result in an incomplete application.
