Pursuant to Section 380.1284a of the Revised School Code, an intermediate school district, in cooperation with its constituent districts, shall adopt a common school calendar to apply to all of its constituent districts and to its intermediate school district programs. Compliance with this legislation entails that the board of each constituent district and intermediate school district ensure that its school calendar complies with the adopted common school calendar.
The legislation has provided the State Superintendent with the authority to waive the requirement to adopt a common calendar. In order for a request to be considered, it must be submitted to the Department using this form. The request must provide sufficient justification for the waiver and demonstrate that the request is in the best educational interest of the affected pupils.
