As the future of work grows more complex and less predictable, many parents want their children to master more rigorous academics. But research shows that “people smarts” such as communication, collaboration, creativity and flexibility may be even more important than “book smarts” for a successful life and career. How can parents – and schools – make the most of both?
Rob Evans, Ed.D and Michael Thompson, Ph.D. will outline the challenges and offer practical advice to parents.
Rob Evans and Michael Thompson are both clinical psychologists and school consultants. They have worked at hundreds of schools, including multiple visits to Punahou, and have written many articles and books. Michael is the author or coauthor of nine, including Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Lives of Boys. Rob is the author of three, including Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing.
