Lunar New Year Composition Competition Application

Application deadline: Application form must be received by Friday, November 1 at 11:59 pm.
 
Note: In order to participate, applicants must be based in the state of New Jersey.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must submit an original arrangement of the Korean folk song “Arirang” for solo piano that is no more than four (4) minutes in duration.

Composition Requirements:

  • Composition must be for solo piano, for an advanced player.
  • Composition must be an arrangement of the Korean folk song “Arirang”
  • All measures must be numbered in the score at the beginning of each line.
  • The arrangement should be a brilliant, celebratory, virtuosic and colorful addition to our annual Lunar New Year celebration.
  • The submitted composition must have a title.
Application Requirements: (Incomplete applications will not be evaluated)
  • Score in PDF format (handwritten scores will not be accepted)
  • One-page letter introducing yourself and describing your arrangement
  • Audio representation of the work, such as a MIDI mock-up or live recording



I hereby certify that the musical composition submitted is my original work. If selected, I am responsible for providing the performance materials to the New Jersey Symphony by December 1, 2024, and I understand that the New Jersey Symphony will not pay any rental or purchase fee for the score. If selected, I agree that my name and photo may be used for publicity purposes.
