By agreeing to foster in partnership with Community Cat, Inc., I (as Foster Caregiver) understand the following and agree to all conditions:
Cat's Health and Disposition
Community Cat cannot guarantee the health or disposition of any foster cat. There are some risks associated with taking in foster cats. Community Cat may not have medical or behavioral history available for every cat. For the health of all involved: 1) family pets must be current on all shots; 2) foster cats must be kept isolated from family cats for a minimum of 10-14 days.
As a Foster Caregiver, I agree to be fully responsible for the safety and well being of the foster cat. I will follow Community Cat’s instructions in providing medical and/or supportive care to the foster cat. I will provide a safe, loving, humane environment with adequate food, water, and shelter at all times. I will not declaw any foster cat. I will adhere to all state and local laws pertaining to cats.
I will promptly notify Community Cat: 1) if a foster cat shows any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral problems; 2) if I am unable to continue fostering; 3) if a foster cat is lost or missing; 4) if a foster cat bites a person or another animal.
Transfer of Cats
Cats cannot be transferred to the custody of any other person, shelter, humane society, SPCA, or other entity without prior consent and permission of Community Cat. I agree that I will not place this cat in another home –- either temporarily or permanently -- without written consent from Community Cat.
Return of Cats
All cats in the Community Cat foster program are the property of Community Cat and must be returned within 24 hours of request. I agree that I am fostering this cat for Community Cat and that I do not have any right of ownership over my foster cat. I further agree that Community Cat's rights to my foster cat are superior to mine. I agree to provide Community Cat’s Foster Coordinator, or her designate access to my home and property to check on my foster cat, at any time while I am in possession of my foster cat.
Personal or Property Damage and/or Injury
I agree to hold harmless, indemnify, and protect Community Cat and all of its officers and volunteers from any claim or suit filed by someone as a result of any of the following: 1) if a foster cat should accidentally bite, scratch, or otherwise injure another animal or human; 2) if a foster cat should damage or destroy property belonging to the Foster Caregiver, Foster Caregiver’s household, or others; 3) if the foster cat should transfer any disease or internal/external parasites to other animals or people in the Foster Caregiver’s household.
I understand that if I am approved for fostering, this declaration represents a legal contract between me as the Foster Caregiver and Community Cat. I understand that if I am approved to foster a cat, I must abide by this agreement and that this agreement applies to any and all cats that I foster with Community Cat.
