Application due: March 1st, 2008 11:59 PM
The East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) is seeking interested and dedicated people to serve on its National Board, which provides leadership for ECAASU. This is a great opportunity for you to be a part of a national organization that encompasses more than 1,000 college students and alumni. Being on the National Board will require some travel, and attendance during conference call meetings is expected. We welcome you to join us in making a significant national impact on the Asian American community. The following positions are open:
| COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR | At the beginning of the fiscal year, the Communications Chair submits an Annual Report to the Connecticut Secretary of State. The Communications Chair also keeps the minutes of all National Board Meetings; authenticates ECAASU records; organizes newsletters; keeps an accurate historical record of ECAASU; and maintains the weekly ECAASU Announcements and the ECAASU mailing list.
| INTERNAL CHAIR | The Internal Chair organizes and mobilizes the ECAASU Representatives Council on various issues and facilitates communication between member schools. During the annual ECAASU conference, the Internal Chair organizes a full meeting of the Representatives Council. The Internal Chair also plans regional meetings and mixers to promote ECAASU throughout the year.
| ALUMNI CHAIR | The Alumni Chair serves as a connection between ECAASU and college graduates who have attended ECAASU conferences and/or participated in ECAASU-sponsored events. The Alumni Chair keeps and maintains a database of graduated ECAASU students. The Alumni Chair also updates ECAASU alumni on current events, organizes alumni mixers and solicits donations.
ADVOCACY CO-CHAIR (new opening!) | The Advocacy Chairs will be knowledgeable of issues that affect ECAASU’s students and lead advocacy efforts to work on those issues utilizing various strategies. This Advcoacy Co-Chair will also work with our current Advocacy Chair, Alex Brown, to include and update the ECAASU mailing list on weekly current events in Asian America, as well as updating the new ECAASU blog. Given your interests, you can also formulate your own Advocacy project to be implemented on a National Scale.
| WEBMASTER | The Webmaster is responsible for updating the ECAASU website as well as developing strategies to promote ECAASU over the Internet. The Webmaster also works with the Conference Board webmaster to help with development and to archive past websites.
Please note that these offices are 2 year terms (with the exception of the Advocacy Co-Chair, which is a one year term). Both college students and young alumni are welcome to apply and serve on board. Thanks!
